Sam Gao

I started playing the piano when I was 7 years old. Even at 16 years old, this love for the piano still persists and led me to establish Heart and Soul. My inspiration was my grandfather and his struggles during his final years at a nursing home. During the last 2 years of his life, my grandfather was bedridden and unable to find entertainment outside of his room. I frequently visited him, where I noticed an untouched piano sitting in the lobby. As a pianist, I felt compelled to use the piano to share the beauty of classical music to the residents, including my grandfather. Through this experience, I saw how music can uplift spirits and provide comfort during difficult times. I even managed to connect to several seniors through our mutual musical passions. This is a powerful reminder of how small acts of kindness and compassion can have a positive impact on others, a lesson I will carry with me throughout my life.
